Do It Your Self, in relation to house maintenance, is a common sense outlook to everyday projects in and around a House, property, flat, apartment, dwelling place, anywhere where human beings choose to live, projects to enhance the comfort, security, safety, and weather proofing to mention just a few.

Before any project is undertaken however small, the common sense approach is an absolute necessity. To explain, nothing can compare with the knowledge of experience, and experience tells us that caution with all things that are new to us should cause us to make as much preparation, and accrue as much information as is physically necessary to complete the task.

Usually many DIY Stores give out information in regard to particular tasks, but it is always necessary to know the essential information regarding all projects before starting, for instance for any work on electrical installations, new sockets light fittings etc. ALWAYS SWITCH OFF the Power supply, before doing anything. Secondly make sure you have all the tools required for the project, and the materials to Finish the project.

Also for any Plumbing project, from changing a washer, to installing a Shower, always isolate the supply to the project, and be aware of the main supply turn off point.

As before the tools for the job, and materials should be acquired for the project.
